Do you believe that cats want to have kittens?

I absolutly don't! I have an all black domestic medium hair (spayed) female cat who is currently 2 years old. I belive that if she could choose to have a litter or to be spayed than she would want to be spayed! there are sooooo many benefits of spaying female cats also. people just don't realize this. some people say that it is good for a female cat to have her first litter because it helps with their temperment. sorry folks, it's not! my female never had her first heat and never had her first litter but still is the sweetest cat ever!!! I think that it's really selfish to make a female cat go through unnecesary birth of having kittens. I'm not talking about the (responsible) breeders. I'm just talking about general individuals. cats are not like us, they don't CARE to have kittens!! they don't think even once about it! but, anyway, what's your opinion on this? just curious!

Do you believe that cats want to have kittens?

You are so right. Unspayed female cats who even have one heat and not a pregnancy are apparently more prone to develop mammary cancer later in their lives. This is a very aggressive cancer in cats, treatable only with radical surgery and chemotherapy.

Dogs suffer the same condition though in dogs the cancer is not as aggressive. It still has to be treated.

Why would anyone want to put their pet through that?

Do you believe that cats want to have kittens?

im with you...if people love their cats they should spay/neuter and keep their cats inside!!!

the same thing with my friends cat ive been wondering well g2g hope you get some good answers besides mine

I agree with you, somewhat. Whether cats would WANT to have kittens or not I have no idea, but healthwise it is much better, like you said, to spay your cat. I don't know where people got that idea that your cat should have a litter of kittens before they spay it.

Do you believe that cats want to have kittens?

I agree. As much as I love kittens, there are far too many of them. I have 4 indoor cats, all strays that someone else dumped. The first thing I do when I take in a new cat is have him/her neutered/spayed. It makes for better temperaments, and I find that my neutered males especially stay very kittenish indefinitely.

I've made a tee shirt that says FIX YOUR PETS.

I dont know what to think, I spayed my dog when she was 1 yr old and my parents tell me that maybe she would have wanted to have puppies at least once in her lifetime, after explaining to them the importance of spaying our beloved animals they understood what I was doing and why I was doing it. I also put as an example a female boxer my aunt has and that had a litter of puppies, the dog wouldnt take care of them at all and the puppies had to be handfed, I belive that this kind of feeling that we say that animals want to have puppies, kitties, babies is just a human feeling and thats all about it. We just put ourselves in their 'paws' and say they do.

i agree with you! spaying cats give them so much more freedom in the workplace!! i mean, all the cuddling with humans should not be wasted on kittens. even though they are realllly cute. let someone elses cat have em.

Well, we are taking our little boy kitten (14 weeks old) to be fixed this Friday. I sure don't think he even wants a girlfriend much less any baby kits. He likes being the baby too much himself.

The bad news is that he is the kitten of Bijoux. My husband told me last night that he thinks Bijoux is mad at me for taking her kitten and that is why she is preggers again. I told him she is pregnant because she won't let us touch her. She showed up at our home about 5 months ago. Her owners moved away and just left her. I put out food for her because I felt so sorry for her, she was so skinny. Well, she got fat quick...it didn't take too long for me to figure out she was pregnant.

We have put food in a kennel to try and catch her. She won't go near it...our little dog keeps getting in it. Our vet considers her a feral cat and that no one will be able to adopt her. I can't just let her keep having kittens, though. I guess when our neighbors moved they must have left some male cats, too, because I have caught them trying to come in our yard. She refuses to come in our house. I try every single time I see her.

Our vet said he might could give us something that will knock her out and we can put it in her food. She will eat it and go to sleep and then we can bring her in to have her fixed. We now have to wait for her to have this new set of kittens. I would have put something in her food before this but she disappeared after the first litter was weaned. She is back again and I am feeding her again. I don't know where she went when she left before...an X-rated holiday by the looks of things.

Anyway, I don't think she really wants to have kittens but she sure seems to enjoy the "making babies" part of it. All of our dogs (we have three) are fixed. As I mentioned at the top of this answer, our kitten will be fixed this week. I am not happy about this situation with Bijoux, but with her refusing to let us do anything other than feed her, we have been left holding the "kitty" bag.

Wowza! I couldn't have said it better myself. Great job, gal!!!

*Thanks* on behalf of all the feline critters out there, too. :-)

Do you believe that cats want to have kittens?

I think that it is natural for unspayed female cats in "heat" to feel the need to breed. There are few animals besides humans that mate for pleasure; they just have the natural instinct to breed when they are capable.

Do you believe that cats want to have kittens?

No not really its just like humans they like to screw each other

and then they just happen to have babies but once they get it they got to take care of it
