Are white people really different in the south U.S. Compared to the ones up north U.S.?

I grew up in Central Florida and the part of town i grew up in was 97% white. I'm Indian/German/Hispanic. I have black hair, Hazel/blue eyes and a brown complexion. So in result my friends and GFs have been white preppy types. Also seemed like all that i attracted....However there was this one girl Brooke i wanted to go out with. She only dated white guys. I was friends with her and nothing more could of ever happened. They're alot of girls like her mainly cause of her parents not wanting her to go out with someone that isn't white. However NY for an example where i was born, no one seems to care or even stress if a white girl or guy went out with or even married someone thats not white. If they did care they're more discrete and not as verbal as most people that grew up in the south. Why is it a big deal in the south? I'm also asked alot on what race i am. A girl would talk to me on how cute or hot i am and right after... I'm ask what am I?

Most people from the southern states are different from most people in the northern states. It is just different cultures. Almost like neighboring countries. It's not just white people. It's also true that most people prefer to date and marry within their own race. Also not restricted to just white people. Inter-racial dating and marriage is more acceptable in the north because of the slavery issue in the south. Many southerners were taught that blacks were inferior to whites. While anyone with reasonable intellegence knows that is not the case, racism is still more prevalent in the south.

I agree, and if you want to live in a general society where you are accepted, California is the place to live. I lived in Northern and Southern Cal and it casual and accepting. The south is where I would NEVER live. The Mason/Dixon line is alive and well.

yes, and so are blacks, hispanics, asians, etc. your environment shapes all kinds of social mores, even though the most impact rests within the immeadiate family, ie parents

Gypsy girl said only one thing that made sense; that people prefer to date and marry within their own race or culture. Many times it has to do with who's the best mate available.

The rest is baloney.

The worst case of racism I ever saw took place in Pennsylvania, not a southern state.

Discrimination takes place on many levels as GG just proved when she made a broad, general statement about people from the south being more racist than others.

You sound handsome and smart. You'll come across the "right girl" when the time is right.

Are white people really different in the south U.S. Compared to the ones up north U.S.?

YES. I live up North and have been down South, I can tell you overall Northern people are much rurder, and Souther folks are much nicer and easy going.

Are white people really different in the south U.S. Compared to the ones up north U.S.?

Yes, the south is still fighting the civil war and are (for the most part) very racist. I grew up in the north and now live in the south. It is amazing how not too much has changed....

How should I know? They all look alike to me!

GOSH, folks! SIMMER DOWN!!! I was just KIDDING!!

I honestly have no first-hand experience with "Southern White Folk"... my BF is from Texas, and he keeps reminding me that Texas is DIFFERENT from being "Southern," except when it comes to certain Southern foods and traditions.

As for myself, I'm from "JOISEY." We're all screwed up there!

Have a polite day.
